Howard Megdal Lands Book Deal for Quixotic Quest

howardmegdal.jpgLast week a sportswriter landed a book deal for a memoir about his quixotic quest to grab one of the most powerful jobs in baseball.

Today’s guest on the Morning Media Menu was Howard Megdal, a sportswriter and blogger campaigning to be the next general manager of the New York Mets. He talked about his book deal with Bloomsbury, recording his adventures in the upcoming book, Step Right Up: A Fan’s Quest to Run the New York Mets.

Megdal (pictured) pondered how blogging will affect sports publishing: “When you go back to baseball in the 1940s and 50s, there was a fear among the owners that if there were more games broadcast on television that people would stop coming to the games. As we know, now with television widespread and people having a chance to watch, baseball attendance is higher than it’s ever been. My suspicion is that you’ll see something similar [with online reporting].”
