Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence (pictured, via) will produce and play the lead in a film adaptation of Claire Bidwell Smith‘s memoir, The Rules of Inheritance.
Serena director Susanne Bier will helm the project.
The Iron Lady screenwriter Abi Morgan will write the script and Milk producer Bruce Cohen will produce.

In The Rules of Inheritance, Claire Bidwell Smith recounts coming-of-age as an only child who, over a 7-year period as a young adult loses both her parents to cancer. While struggling to cope, she propels herself into many romances, adventures and travels in an inspirational, emotionally charged and surprisingly humorous journey that celebrates life, the people we love and lose and the discoveries we make along the way.
Penguin Group (USA) released the nonfiction title back in February 2012.
