Both halves of the out-going First Couple are reportedly shopping memoirs.

It’s been a bad year for the Bush presidency, both in real life polls and fictional representations. This spring, Curtis Sittenfeld wrote a novel patterned after the life of Laura Bush in American Wife. (GalleyCat interview here). Then, Oliver Stone released W., an unauthorized biopic about President George W. Bush.

Now they can tell their own stories. During a television interview, President Bush said he planned a memoir–despite advice to wait. The Fox News article notes:

“Laura Bush wants to write a memoir and will be meeting with several publishers, according to three publishing executives with knowledge of the proceedings … a book contract could rival Hillary Rodham Clinton’s $8 million deal for 2003′s Living History.”
