Two New Literary Culture Sites to Bookmark
"But our favorite section of the new site," reports UnBeige co-editor Stephanie Murg, "is 'Syllabi,' in which assorted experts and aficionados offer reading lists on a subject they know well, from walking (Lisa Darms) to Flarf poetry (Franklin Bruno). Sending us to straight to the more obscure corners of Amazon.com was Hannah Frank, who takes on the darker side of Walt Disney with a list of five books that 'treat their subject with all the gravity cartoons deserve.'" Oh, we totally have to come up with one of those. The Bookforum news reminded us that we've been meaning to tell you for a while now about the launch of Tablet, a new "daily online magazine of Jewish news, ideas, and culture" from the editorial team that used to bring you NextBook. Literary contributors include former New York Sun books editor Adam Kirsch, novelist Joshua Cohen, and the website's podcast editor, Sara Ivry. There's also a weekly publishing roundup by Josh Lambert that does an excellent job of compiling newly-arrived books of interest to the Jewish community. We'll be checking in on both sites regularly and encourage you to do likewise. Email This Post |
