More Nonfiction Authors Embracing Online Video

Knopf has uploaded a half-dozen video segments with Oliver Sacks onto the YouTube, anecdotal mini-lectures on various subjects related to his new book, Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain. Though most are in the range of three to four minutes, here’s one on “the power of rhythm” that’ll just take 78 seconds out of your morning:

Steven Johnson offers seven talking-head clips on his website for The Ghost Map, explaining the significance of one mid-19th-century doctor’s efforts to prove how a cholera outbreak swept through a London neighborhood. This video, however, is a quick 3-minute retelling of that story, as animated by Boli Graphics.
