Winnie-the-Pooh will turn 90 years old on August 21st.
The New York Public Library will collect birthday cards to celebrate the occasion. Three to twelve-year-old kids can make cards for Pooh Bear and his friends at a special craft event on Tuesday, August 9th.
Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger starred in two short story collections by A. A. Milne with illustrations by E. H. Shepard. The first volume, Winnie-the-Pooh, came out in 1926 and The House on Pooh Corner followed in 1928. The series spawned a beloved cartoon adaptation.
