Back in June, I wrote about Nothing But Red, an anthology of original essays, stories, and artwork inspired by the murder of Dua Khalil Aswad a 17-year-old Yazidi girl who was stoned by an Iraqi mob, including members of her own family, because she has been seen in public with a Sunni boy. The early involvement of Buffy creator Joss Whedon, whose online essay inspired the book's title, drove much attention to the project, and editor-in-chief Skyla Dawn Cameron reports that there's been "such an enthusiastic response to the project, both in submissions received and in other forms of support," that the deadline for submissions has been extended to December 1. This move will not affect the publication of the anthology through Lulu.com, which is still scheduled for April 2008; the money raised from the anthology will be donated to Equality Now, an organization that works to eradicate violence against women.
