One More Publishing Staffer With a Band and a Book Deal, And We’ve Got an Official Trend

Just a quick follow-up to yesterday’s brief post about Chip Kidd‘s band making the scene: mediabistro.com’s design blog, UnBeige, has more, better photos from the gig as well as an assessment of Artbreak‘s musicality: “The New Pornographers meet The Cars.” That certainly sounds like fun. So I guess we’ll keep an eye out for more Artbreak shows when Kidd’s new novel comes out early next year.

In a somewhat related story, HarperCollins editor Rakesh Satyal, no slouch at the microphone himself, has just sold a novel to Kensington. Blue Boy, described as “David Sedaris meets Jhumpa Lahiri” in the Publishers Marketplace deal announcement, is about “a sexually confused Indian-American boy who thinks he may be the reincarnation of the Hindu god Krishna.” We are definitely keeping an eye out for that.
