Poet Craig Arnold Has Died

n74254019683_8406.jpgOfficials have ruled that US poet Craig Arnold died while climbing a volcano in Japan, ending a search that began on on April 26.

The Poetry Foundation has posted a letter from Arnold’s partner, Rebecca Lindenberg. Earlier this week the 1st Special Response Group had joined the search on the volcano, and had found the poet’s trail. The poet had been working on a new book about volcanoes during his trip.

Here’s more from the Salt Lake Tribune: “That hope died Friday afternoon once a search team announced that a trail discovered the previous day showed signs that Arnold, 41, suffered a leg injury, then fell from a steep cliff to his death soon afterward.”
