Reading about Reading, the New York Times way
It must be a slow day if the weekly “OMG, a trend piece!” at the NYT ends up about books that are about…reading other people’s books. And though William Grimes’ essay is perfectly serviceable and entertaining, let’s face it: such books are only going to appeal to those who are avid readers already, not those who barely ever engage in this worthwhile practice. So is it preaching to the converted, or ignoring those who desperately need to read most?
