Scenes from the MegaYoga Book Party

Megan Garcia (top, left) greets former DK editor Jennifer Sterling at the publication party for the book they worked on together, MegaYoga, described as “the first yoga program for curvy women.” The program began when Garcia began modifying yoga positions on her own to accomodate her plus-size figure; eventually she got herself certified as an instructor and now teaches classes on the Upper West Side. (She also released a DVD last year.) The party crowd gathered in the downstairs space at Jane included both publishing types and yoga students, as well as some overlap between the two categories. Sheryl Simonitis, an account manager for bn.com, has been studying with Garcia for three years now and brought her co-worker, Maria Gaglia, to the party.
