Slumdog Millionaire Scribe Scores Book Deal
Vikas Swarup, the author of Q&A–the book that was adapted into the Academy Award-nominated film, Slumdog Millionaire–jut sold his next book to Toni Plummer at Thomas Dunne Books.
The deal was negotiated by Transworld’s Helen Edwards. The book is entitled Six Suspects, a murder mystery. In a recent CNN interview, Swarup said he didn’t want to leave his day-job as an Indian diplomat. He is currently stationed in South Africa.
Here’s Swarup’s description of how he wrote the book: “My wife and children had already left for India. So I was two months alone in London … There was no comfort, but more importantly there were no distractions. That’s why I wrote this book, almost in a frenzy. The idea was bubbling in my head.” (Via and via.)
