Snowflakes: A Great Holiday Season Investment
Inspired by her husband’s battle with bone cancer, children’s book author/illustrator Grace Lin launched the Robert’s Snow: For Cancer’s Cure charity auction last year. This winter it’s back, and bigger, as 200 children’s book writers and artists have taken handcarved wooden snowflakes (like those at left) and used them as templates for their own creative vision. Among those contributing to the project are Brian Froud, Brett Helquist, Maira Kalman, Jon J. Muth, Mo Willems, and Jane Yolen. All of the funds raised (last year they made over $100,000) will go to fund sarcoma research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
