Sound business practices probably help, too

Trend pieces are always fun to spot because of the herd-like mentality. A while back some of the UK papers did a profile on — hahaha! — Profile, the people responsible for Lynn Truss’s mammoth success around the world with EATS, SHOOTS AND LEAVES (not to be confused with HE, SHOOTS HE SCORES) so it seems only natural that it would take ages for Bloomberg News to prepare their own “how do they fight the Goliaths?” piece on them, Canongate and, er, Bloomsbury:

“People have crude ideas that the big corporations are more profit-oriented,” says Bloomsbury’s founder, Nigel Newton. “But businesses just go out of business if they’re not profitable. So it matters equally at any size.”

Right, but it always helps to stumble upon a juggernaut named Harry Potter to give enough sales backbone so you can buy pretty much whatever you please, right?
