Salma Hayek to Produce Wicked Miniseries

Salma Hayek and Jose Tamez will produce a TV miniseries adaptation of Gregory Maguire‘s Wicked. Erik Jendresen will write the script.

TV Line has more details: “Sources confirm that the actress-producer [Hayek] is teaming with ABC to develop an eight-hour miniseries adaptation of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the Gregory Maguire bestseller that spawned the Broadway phenom.”

According to the article, the miniseries will be based on the novel and not the musical. Universal has a film version of the musical currently in the works. (via Shelf Awareness)
