Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet To Be Adapted

A team of directors will adapt The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.

Jose Tamez will serve as executive producer for the animated film adaptation. Tamez comes from the production company owned by actress Salma Hayek, Ventanarosa Productions.

Here’s more from Deadline: “The intention is for different directors to helm each chapter, with an interconnecting theme and a musical through-line. Filmmakers expected to participate so far include Sylvain Chomet (The Triplets of Belleville), John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda), Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis), Chris Landreth (Oscar-winning short Ryan), Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells), Nina Paley (Sita Sings the Blues), Bill Plympton (Guard Dog and Your Face) and Kunio Kato (Oscar winning short Tsumiki no ie).”

Salma Hayek to Produce Wicked Miniseries

Salma Hayek and Jose Tamez will produce a TV miniseries adaptation of Gregory Maguire‘s Wicked. Erik Jendresen will write the script.

TV Line has more details: “Sources confirm that the actress-producer [Hayek] is teaming with ABC to develop an eight-hour miniseries adaptation of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the Gregory Maguire bestseller that spawned the Broadway phenom.”

According to the article, the miniseries will be based on the novel and not the musical. Universal has a film version of the musical currently in the works. (via Shelf Awareness)
