New ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Trailer Released

Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor in the new trailer for Thor: The Dark World. The cast for the blockbuster comic book adaptation includes Natalie PortmanTom HiddlestonStellan SkarsgardIdris Elba and Anthony Hopkins.

Alan Taylor directed the film, a filmmaker who also directed six episodes of Game of Thrones for HBO. Here’s more about the movie, released October 30th:

Natalie Portman & Lisa Kudrow Star in Adaptation of Ayelet Waldman Novel

The Other Woman, a film adaptation of Ayelet Waldman‘s book Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, debuts in February. The official trailer is embedded above–what do you think?

Black Swan star Natalie Portman plays the lead role alongside former Friends star Lisa Kudrow. Don Roos both directed and adapted the screenplay.

Doubleday released Love and Other Impossible Pursuits in 2006. Walman has also written a mystery series called The Mommy-Track Mysteries and several essays on the topic of modern motherhood. (Via Word & Film)

“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” Headed to Movie Theaters

9781594743344_norm.jpgLast month, we reported how Quirk Books screened its book trailer for “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” in theaters around the country. Now, the whole book will play in theaters–as a feature film starring and produced by Star WarsNatalie Portman. Coincidence?

CNN delivered the adaptation news is a single sentence: “Portman has signed on to produce and star in the movie version of the best-selling book ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,’ written by Seth Grahame-Smith and, uh, Jane Austen.”

The publishing world’s reaction to this little book has been mixed, but nobody can deny it has been a banner year for the Little Zombie Book That Could. The news finishes a magical run: the title went from GalleyCat feature to bestselling book to publishing trend. Link via Powell’s.
