Josh Ritter Releases Star-Studded 20-Minute Book Video

Musician Josh Ritter recently released his debut novel Bright’s Passage. To promote the book, Ritter gathered a cast of Hollywood friends, family members and fans to read the first chapter of the novel. Follow the link to see the full twenty-minute video.

The list of orators include Josh Ritter, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Glen Hansard, Charlie Cox, Mary Louise Parker, Bob Ritter, Sue Ritter, Michael Shannon, Kate Arrington, Scott Hutchison, Zack Hickman, Tift Merritt, Stephen Kellogg, Haley Tanner, Sam Kassirer, Liam Hurley, Lincoln Ritter, Jacob Ritter and Dan John Miller.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ritter talked about the inspiration for his novel: “Several of the songs on [the album] So Runs the World Away are fairly complicated narrative songs, so my first instinct was to try and make Henry Bright’s story into a song. As I thought about it, though, I realized this was my chance to try my hand at a novel…Besides my songs, Bright’s Passage is the first work I’ve I wanted anyone to see.”

Rainn Wilson Avoids Easy Jokes in Book Trailer

We imagine that making a book video for a celebrity is tricky business–the producers must be constantly fighting the urge to stick with quick jokes recycled from the celebrity’s career.

In Rainn Wilson‘s book trailer embedded above, the producers used some fun special effects to support actor’s new book, Soul Pancake. But the trailer cleverly avoids easy jokes about his role as Dwight Schrute on The Office.

Here’s more about the video: “Artgasm (n.): The overwhelming experience of viewing, pondering, or discussing a truly fabulous piece of art. – - Produced & Directed by Devon Gundry Cinematography and Editing by Jean-Louis Larrieu & Andrew Nakajima. Inspired by Lane Fournerat.”
