Universal Pictures Unveils the ‘Unbroken’ Film Trailer

Universal Pictures has unveiled the trailer for the Unbroken film adaptation. The video embedded above offers glimpses of actor Jack O’Connell in the lead role of Louis Zamperini.

Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie helmed this project as director. The screenwriting team includes William Nicholson, Richard LaGravenese, Joel and Ethan Coen. This movie will hit the silver screen on December 25, 2014.

Here’s more from Vanity Fair: “While some Olympic promotional tie-ins might be a bit confusing (world class athletes and McNuggets??), the connection between Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and the 2014 Sochi Games is as solid as Evgeni Plushenko’s right thigh. If you’re one of the very few people who didn’t read Laura Hillenbrand’s (Seabiscuit: An American Legend) runaway best-seller Unbroken, it tells the true story of an Olympic athlete, Louis ‘Louie’ Zamperini, who, along with two fellow crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII.” Follow this link to read an excerpt from Hillenbrand’s book.

Water for Elephants Trailer Released on Amazon

Last week Amazon exclusively released a long Water for Elephants film trailer. We’ve embedded the trailer above.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has only aired full-length trailers for one other movie: The Dark Knight. The film will hit theaters on April 22nd.

Sara Gruen wrote Flying Changes and Water for Elephants as National Novel Writing Month projects. Here’s an excerpt from an inspirational letter she wrote to NaNoWriMo writers: “I can do this. WE can do this. However far behind you are, take comfort in knowing that there is somebody else out there in the same boat, and look for that next fun scene. And then the next. And if that doesn’t work, set someone on fire. In your book, of course. See you in the winner’s circle.” (via Shelf Awareness)

Water for Elephants Official Trailer Released

A film adaptation of Sara Gruen‘s Water for Elephants will hit theaters in April 2011. The official trailer is embedded above–what do you think?

Twilight Saga star Robert Pattinson plays the lead role, Jacob Jankowski, along side Oscar winners, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. Richard LaGravenese adapted the novel.

Gruen’s novel became an unexpected hit in 2006. The author originally conceived the idea as a project for National Novel Writing Month. Following her success, Gruen secured a $5 million 2-book deal with Random House imprint, Spiegel & Grau.
