The Plates Are Cleared, It’s Time for the Group Photo!

The New England Independent Booksellers Association presented its annual book awards during a luncheon at last week’s trade show up in Boston—this year’s winners include (from left) Nathaniel Philbrick for non-fiction, David Macaulay for the lifetime achievement President’s Award, Alice Hoffman for fiction, and Tomie dePaola for children’s books. (The publisher of the year, John Viehman of Down East Books, was in another part of the room.)

Also last week: Arianna Huffington was the guest speaker for the Publisher’s Advertising and Marketing Association‘s fall luncheon. Afterwards, she posed with PAMA officers Melissa Lord (treasurer), David Nudo</b (president), and Christine Duplessis (secretary).
