Tobias Wolff Wins $20,000 Story Prize

At the New School’s Tishman Auditorium last night, Tobias Wolff won the $20,000 Story Prize for his short story collection, “Our Story Begins.”

The two other finalists were Jhumpa Lahiri for “Unaccustomed Earth” and Joe Meno for “Demons in the Spring.” Judges picked the finalists from among 73 books entered by 56 different publishers and imprints.

As a Wednesday morning treat, GalleyCat included that video of Story Award-winner Wolff singing one of the world’s saddest songs along with John Darnielle from The Mountain Goats. It was shot at an unrelated City Arts & Lectures event. (Via Ed Park.)
