Twitter Writers Break News of HarperCollins Layoffs

According to multiple sources on Twitter, there are layoffs occurring at HarperCollins this morning. In addition, Gawker writes: “Layoffs are underway at publisher HarperCollins.”

Last week it was reported that during the final quarter of 2008, sales at HarperCollins dropped 25 percent. At the end of January, the company announced a voluntary retirement program proposed by the company at the end of January.
