There’s Don DeLillo (“he better get back in his Crown Vic before that dude in the white sneaks nicks his Omega”), Joan Didion (“is this an [author photo] or a circa-1970 Virginia Slims ad?”), and Susan Sontag (“surely this was the face that launched a thousand career-stalkers”), among others.
