Intel apparently wants to make sure that there's no doubt about just how small the chips in its latest microprocessor family are; it's calling them "Atom."

The processor maven is coming out with two Atom chips, one for mobile Internet devices such as cell phones and other ultra-portable handhelds and the other for low-end PCs, the Wall Street Journal reports.

There will also be a Centrino Atom chip brand for devices that include Wi-Fi technology. According to the Journal, Intel is insisting that devices that use the Centrino Atom brand must meet certain specs, such as size requirements and wireless networking functionality.

The branding is in place, complete with "Intel Atom Inside" and "Intel Centrino Atom Inside" logos ready to go on certified devices.
