RIAA Lawyer Leaves the Courtroom

Richard Gabriel, the RIAA's top litigation lawyer who has been personally leading the RIAA's litigation campaign for the past several years, will be leaving his law practice after getting a job as a state court judge for a 2-year term in Colorado, according to Slashdot.

The post said that Gabriel has been the lead attorney on all of the RIAA's high-profile—and much-maligned—cases, including Capitol v. Thomas, the only RIAA case that actually went to trial and wasn't settled beforehand. We're sure he will be sorely missed, though we're not sure by who exactly.
