Apple Now Has the Third Largest Music StoreThe iTunes Store is now third in overall music sales in the United States, with 9.8 percent of market share, according to a recent report by market research firm NPD. The only two stores ahead of iTunes are Wal-mart (with 15.8 percent) and Best Buy (with 13.8 percent). This means that Apple now sells more music than Amazon, Circuit City, Target, Virgin Megastore, Borders, and other big-name retailers. Actual CD sales still make up 86.2 percent of the market, but digital music sales are clearly on the rise, with 13.8 percent of the market overall. iTunes moves up to third largest music store [Playlistmag.com] Email This Post |
