Motorola said Monday that it will acquire Singapore-based online music retailer Soundbuzz in a move that will help bolster the U.S. cellphone maker's mobile music offerings in Asia, according to the Dow Jones Newswire.

Ian Chapman-Banks, Motorola's vice president of Asia Pacific marketing for mobile devices, said in the article that the acquisition of Soundbuzz will help the company expand on its successes with MOTOMUSIC, a digital music retail service in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, into Southeast Asian markets as well as Australia and India.

This lines up Motorola nicely with Nokia, who is busy marketing their new Ovi online media store in the U.K.
