The News Market is reporting that actress Katherine Heigl helped jumpstart Palm's new initiative with The Princess Project by donating a gown she wore in the film "27 Dresses."

In addition, Palm has announced plans to "give a new Palm Centro smartphone to the first 27 consumers who arrive at select screenings of Heigl's new movie with a prom or bridesmaid dress in tow."

The Princess Project is a nonprofit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area that provides prom dresses to underprivileged girls, according to the report: "The select screenings to gather donated dresses will take place Jan. 10 in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco and Washington, D.C."
