Beginning today, Verizon Wireless will offer mShopper on the company's Mobile Web 2.0SM service, according to an announcement from the mobile commerce infrastructure provider. This comes after David Gould, former Virgin Mobile content director, took the reins of mShopper as CEO after working with the company for several years.

"The next time Verizon Wireless customers are looking at an item in a store, they can pull out their phones, launch mShopper on Mobile Web 2.0 and compare prices, browse and even buy in just a few clicks, right from their phones," according to the announcement.

mShopper's catalog includes 9 million products from hundreds of online stores, such as eLuxury, eBags, Bluefly, and Shoes.com. The service is designed so that consumers can search for items by typing in as little as two letters.
