Tabloid Wars Wars: Telegenic Post Staffers Suffering From Pre-Wars Publicity Envy [FishbowlNY]
But we hear some New York Post staffers were none-too-thrilled with editor Col Allan's decision to turn down Bravo request to chronicle them in the upcoming gossip documentary, Tabloid Wars. Notes an insider: "Some of the more, ah, telegenic people at the paper (yes, there are a few) were miffed that they didn't get a chance at the publicity the schlumps from the Daily Snooze are now getting."
Gawker, Yahoo End Syndication Deal; Valleywag's Persecution of Braun 'Cast a Pall Over the Relationship' [FishbowlNY]
"Valleywag's persecution of Lloyd Braun, head of Yahoo Media, probably cast a pall over the relationship," Denton wrote in a post. "But Yahoo execs, while they occasionally made their displeasure known, never pressured us to remove a post." Denton also mentioned Gawker's "peculiarly coastal, geeky and freaky demographic" as a factor a peculiarity Gawker Media has made recent strides to change.
Middle East Crisis: Thur. Coverage Notes [TVNewser]
An e-mailer asks: "What is Tucker Carlson doing" in the Middle East? "Isn't he a political pundit and not a journalist?" Here's my guess: He was a pundit on Crossfire, but he wants to expand his role.
Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Beaters [FishbowlLA]
Haley Joel Osment flipped his car early this morning, after colliding with a brick pillar, according to the L.A. Country Sheriff's Dept. The driver of the brick pillar was not identified.
Confirmed: Post Keeps Sections Separate [FishbowlDC]
The rumors are true. The Washington Post is keeping the Food, Health and Home sections separate. Focus groups gave the combined section two thumbs down.
Comic-Con: Finding Lost Girls [GalleyCat]
One of the most anticipated books at this year's Comic-Con is Alan Moore's Lost Girls, the "porno-graphic" novel that retells the story of three iconic characters from children's literature.
It's My Way Or ... I'll Leave And Take The Highway [UnBeige]
Seth Godin recently had up a terrific post: "How to Live Happily with a Great Designer." It's one of those things that, as anyone involved in a creative profession, you enjoy reading, rolling your eyes while thinking, "Oh man, ha ha, I've totally been there."
In Praise Of: Scrivener [MBToolBox]
Nobody has written in lately recommending any tools or programs or systems that have been improving their freelancing/editing/writing lives, but I did find this recommendation for Scrivener.
