GOP Candidate Cain Cancels Dinner With NYC Media Elite (NY1.com)
As word comes that Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain is "reassessing" his campaign, he has abruptly canceled a private dinner with New York's media elite planned for this Sunday. FishbowlDC: Wednesday morning TV guidance: ABC Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos will interview the now-infamous Ginger White, the woman who claims she had a 13-year consensual affair with Cain. TVSpy: Shortly after rival station WAGA aired a big-time exclusive interview with White Monday evening, WSB caught up with White outside of her apartment. HuffPost: The ladies of The View approached the news in their typically outspoken fashion. Of all the hosts, Whoopi Goldberg was the most creative in discussing the issue, by using bleep-worthy language and singing Motown. AllFacebook: Facebook users are discussing whether Cain should withdraw from the presidential primary now that a fifth woman has come forward alleging an affair with him. FishbowlDC: Here's a look at some of the selections used to illustrate Monday night's news that Cain allegedly had a 13-year extramarital affair with White.

Journalists Give Explosive Testimony At Phone-Hacking Inquiry (Yahoo! News / The Cutline)
A pair of central figures in the News of the World phone-hacking case -- Nick Davies and Paul McMullan -- gave some explosive testimony Tuesday in the ongoing U.K. inquiry into alleged spying activities at the late British tabloid's parent company, News International, and at other newspapers. NYT: After McMullan, a former deputy features editor at Rupert Murdoch's now-defunct News of the World tabloid, had finished his jaw-droppingly brazen remarks at a judicial inquiry Tuesday, it was hard to think of any dubious news-gathering technique he had not confessed to, short of pistol-whipping sources for information.

The anchor simply finished his statement, alerted viewers to the situation, and kept talking.

The Federal Trade Commission announced a settlement with Facebook Tuesday morning over charges that the social network deceived users by failing to honor privacy agreements. AllFacebook: FTC chairman Jon Leibowitz said in a statement that the settlement of an eight-count complaint requires Facebook to warn users about privacy changes and to get their permission before sharing their information more broadly. TechCrunch: In a blog post regarding Tuesday's FTC settlement, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also announced that the company has officially split the chief privacy officer role into two parts, to be filled by existing Facebook employees Erin Egan and Michael Richter. CNET: In reality, the agreement is likely to have little, if any, actual impact on Facebook users. TechCrunch: You know what Zuck (and around 400 Facebook employees, including PR rep Caryn Marooney) do take lightly, according to this comment thread on a Facebook internal network? The fact that the FTC ironically asks readers to "like" them on Facebook at the bottom of the release statement outlining Tuesday's Facebook settlement.
