obama_fox_freeze.jpgHas Obama 'Frozen Out' Fox News? (WaPo's Sleuth)
These are chilly days on the campaign trail for Fox News journalists — at least when they're anywhere near Sen. Barack Obama. Sources tell The Sleuth that the Obama camp has "frozen out" Fox News reporters and producers in the wake of the network's major screw-up in running with the erroneous Obama-the-jihadist story reported by Insight magazine.

Yahoo Planning to Add 100 Web Sites for Entertainment (NYT)
The Web company plans to build individual Web sites around 100 entertainment "brands" this year that would pull together content from Yahoo's sprawling array of online properties. The effort, called Brand Universe, is intended to create online destinations that will draw large audiences around individual movies, television shows, bands, celebrities, games and other types of entertainment.

NYT Co. Posts Wide Q4 Loss, Slashes Values of Boston Globe, New England Papers (E&P)
The New York Times Co. Wednesday reported that it had written down the value of the Boston Globe and other papers in its New England Media Group by $814 million — well more than half the $1.1 billion purchase price for the Globe alone 13 years ago.

Tribune Buyout Offer Expected to Expire (Newsday)
A buyout offer for Tribune Co. from its largest shareholder, the Chandler family of Los Angeles, expires today at 5 p.m., and acceptance remains a long shot, sources said. Consideration of the bid by a special committee of Tribune directors has been complicated by the family's agitation for bold steps to boost the company's sagging stock price, public criticism of management and a low offering price, said the sources familiar with the process.

Will New York Mag Move Downtown When Lease Is Up? (WWD)
It appears a move to SoHo could be in the magazine's future, more specifically, to 180 Varick Street. The move could be prompted by the fact that the magazine's rent would double if a new contract were signed at its current location, according to a source.
