Paul Steiger, the Wall Street Journal's managing editor, said reports that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the confessed mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, had also admitted killing former Journal reporter Daniel Pearl brought back powerful memories of Pearl's horrific death, and serves as a reminder of the dangers overseas journalists face.
Factor This: O'Reilly Sued Over Name-Calling Incident (TMZ.com)
Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, one of the men claiming to be the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, is royally pissed over a few choice words that Bill O'Reilly used to describe him on air, and now he wants $10 million to ease his pain. The prince is the 9th and current husband of Zsa Zsa Gabor.
One Proposal for Tribune Said to Lose Momentum (NYT)
As a March 31 deadline nears for deciding the fate of the Tribune Company, the proposal from Sam Zell, the Chicago real estate billionaire, is falling from favor, according to people close to the situation. "It's back to the drawing boards," one person said. "It's a painful set of bad choices."

Former Los Angeles Times Publisher Jeffrey Johnson has taken an executive position with Yucaipa Cos. An Emerging Confrontation With Citizen Journalists (Marketwatch)
Bambi Francisco: The Web has become an archipelago of tiny villages tied together not by proximity but by interests. In the old-style town square, passionate, informed people came together to debate and share news and create dialogue. Today the Web is that square. Traditional media have lost their monopoly on journalism, and more and more, everyday citizens will be plying the trade.
Brand Aid (National Journal)
William Powers: The media were decades late in catching on, but now they're branding with a vengeance. Media brands are refreshingly different from other types of brands. Unlike, say, dental floss, where the mind-boggling choices range from "mint satin" to "clean-burst cinnamon," media brands have easy-to-understand names, such as "Anderson Cooper" and "Keith Olbermann." And rather than appeal to the taste buds, these brands are engineered to please the opinion buds of specific kinds of people.
