Yahoo Says It May Accept Offer From Microsoft (Times of London)
Jerry Yang, the co-founder of Yahoo, said yesterday that the online search engine may still recommend a hostile takeover from Microsoft after admitting that it had already spent $14 million in fees to advisers such as Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers to fight the approach.

Newspaper Publisher McClatchy Posts 1Q Loss, Revenue Sinks (AP)
Newspaper publisher McClatchy Co. swung to a loss in the first quarter as advertising revenues plunged 15 percent on economic weakness and more drainage of ad business to the Internet.The company, which publishes The Miami Herald and The Sacramento Bee lost $849,000, or a penny per share, in the three months ended March 30 versus earnings of $9 million, or 11 cents per share, a year ago.
NBC, NHL Plan to Extend Agreement For Another Year (WSJ)
NBC and the National Hockey League have extended their broadcast agreement for another year. The deal means NBC, a division of General Electric Co., will continue to show the "Sunday Game of the Week" starting in January and running through the end of the regular season. The network will then provide weekend coverage of the playoffs and Games Four, Five and Seven of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Tight Political Race Fuels CNN's Ratings (AJC)
In March, CNN averaged 444,000 viewers during the prime-time slot 8 to 11 p.m. for the key 25-54 age demographic. It was an 87 percent jump from the previous year and the first time CNN had captured the No. 1 spot for that age group since 2001 a rare victory over archrival Fox News Channel. The question, media analysts ask, is how will CNN hold up when the political news dies down?
