jerry_yang.jpgYahoo Says It May Accept Offer From Microsoft (Times of London)
Jerry Yang, the co-founder of Yahoo, said yesterday that the online search engine may still recommend a hostile takeover from Microsoft after admitting that it had already spent $14 million in fees to advisers such as Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers to fight the approach.

Google Registers Domain Name Googletimewarner.com (TechCrunch)
Michael Arrington: Uptime monitoring service Pingdom has put together a list of thousands of .com domain names owned by Google, based on an analysis of the root zone file. They then verified the most interesting ones with WHOIS information. Does GoogleWarnerbros.com represent a future partnership, or a failed tryout? Googlereligion.com? Why not. Googlepoo.com? Sure.

Newspaper Publisher McClatchy Posts 1Q Loss, Revenue Sinks (AP)
Newspaper publisher McClatchy Co. swung to a loss in the first quarter as advertising revenues plunged 15 percent on economic weakness and more drainage of ad business to the Internet. The company, which publishes The Miami Herald and The Sacramento Bee lost $849,000, or a penny per share, in the three months ended March 30 versus earnings of $9 million, or 11 cents per share, a year ago.

NBC, NHL Plan to Extend Agreement For Another Year (WSJ)
NBC and the National Hockey League have extended their broadcast agreement for another year. The deal means NBC, a division of General Electric Co., will continue to show the "Sunday Game of the Week" starting in January and running through the end of the regular season. The network will then provide weekend coverage of the playoffs and Games Four, Five and Seven of the Stanley Cup Finals.

WhereIStand.com is a new wiki opinion forum that allows users to hold public figures, organizations and themselves up to one another like baseball cards and compare the stats — their stands on various issues — listed on the back. Here's how it works: A staffer or reader poses an issue. Then, once approved, anyone is invited to weigh in on that issue and submit a yes-or-no stance.

Best Bizarre Mag Covers (Gawker)
Hamilton Nolan: The nether regions of the magazine world are truly a strange place. An upcoming book called Bad Mags is a collection of some of the most "strange, bizarre, and peripheral" magazines of the last 50 years — obscure fetish porn, occult titles, true crime, punks, horror, aliens, serial killers. Awesome.

Tight Political Race Fuels CNN's Ratings (AJC)
In March, CNN averaged 444,000 viewers during the prime-time slot — 8 to 11 p.m. — for the key 25-54 age demographic. It was an 87 percent jump from the previous year and the first time CNN had captured the No. 1 spot for that age group since 2001 — a rare victory over archrival Fox News Channel. The question, media analysts ask, is how will CNN hold up when the political news dies down?
