Google's Goal: To Organize Your Daily Life (FT)
Google's ambition to maximize the personal information it holds on users is so great that the search engine envisages a day when it can tell people what jobs to take and how they might spend their days off. Biz Journo Awards: No Portfolio This Year (FBNY)

The Wall Street Journal leads with nine nominations (the Times has five); Fast Company leads all business magazines with three; and Chris Anderson's Long Tail will get another shot against James Kynge's China Shakes the World for best business book.

William M. Arkin: I've often thought if we could cover the military like sports, with transparency and intimate knowledge and a play-by-play that was both affectionate and unsparingly critical, we'd have a healthier debate. Interest and knowledge on the part of the typical American in foreign affairs and national security would actually increase.
