New York Times managing editor Jill Abramson checked out of Bellevue Hospital on May 29, three weeks after being hit by a truck at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and 44th Street. Abramson suffered a broken femur and fractured hip in the May 8 accident. In an e-mail from Bellevue, Abramson said that she has also been vetting stories and taking part in conference calls with editors. "[Executive editor] Bill [Keller] has asked me to lead an investigative project for the next month, which I'll mainly do from home," Abramson wrote in an e-mail. "It involves a group of domestic and foreign reporters, but I obviously can't tell you what it is."
Anheuser Gives Web Channel Another Try (WSJ)
Anheuser-Busch has decided instead to revamp the Web site to make it edgier. Just three months ago, the St. Louis brewer made a big splash in advertising circles with the launch of Bud.TV. The network, which includes 2,000 minutes of original programming, was aimed at getting the attention of beer-drinking young men, who are spending more of their time on the Web. But traffic to the site has plummeted amid complaints from viewers.
