CSI Is World's Most Popular TV Show (NYP)
CSI is officially the most popular TV show on the planet. According to a new study, nearly 84 million viewers around the globe watched the CBS crime drama in 2007. It beat out its sequel, CSI: Miami and House, according to the ratings firm Eurodata, which ranks shows by their worldwide ratings.
Condé Stiffing Florio's Widow? (P6)
Steve Florio would spin in his grave if he heard how Condé Nast is allegedly treating his grieving widow. Sources say the media giant is fighting with Mariann Florio over several company payouts she's owed following her hubby's untimely death. "I'm hearing severance, insurance policies, benefits packages. It could get nasty," one source said.
Glam Media to Announce Acquisition (WSJ)
Glam Media, the largest U.S. Web property aimed at women, plans to announce Tuesday that it has acquired London-based digital-marketing firm Monetise Ltd. to jumpstart its global ad-selling. Within a year, Glam says it will have ad operations up and running in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, India, and China.
ESPN.com Apologizes for Celtics-Hitler Reference (Boston Herald)
An ESPN.com columnist is apologizing through a statement released by the Web site for likening cheering for the Boston Celtics to Adolf Hitler and nuclear war. In her original column railing against the Celtics, Jemele Hill wrote, "Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It's like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan."
Barnes & Noble Reclassifies David Sedaris Book Back in Non-Fiction (NYO)
Last week, Barnes & Noble did a funny thing and classified David Sedaris's new book of essays under fiction in the weekly bestseller list they send out to publishers, even though Sedaris said he definitely considered it non-fiction. But after it was pointed out, the store reversed its stance and with this week's list, it's been made official: When You Are Engulfed in Flames is number one in non-fiction.
