NYT Prepares to Narrow in August (NYO)
A Times internal memo outlined some of the changes taking place this August, when newspaper will be 1.5 inches narrower. The news hole will be reduced, but no worries: there's plenty of space in the brand new City Room blog.

Baum Out At New Yorker (Gawker)
On the first of this month, genial New Yorker writer Dan Baum quietly finished his New Orleans Journal for the mag's Web site, and announced that he and his wife, writer Margaret Knox would be leaving the city and returning home to Denver. What Baum didn't announce was that these may be the last words he'll be writing for the New Yorker, as David Remnick has decided not to renew his contract.

Just a month after the SI relaunch of recent acquisition FanNation.con, the social networking Web 2.0 site giving fans a platform for commenting with one another about stories and creating blogs and fan groups around players and teams is bringing in 4 million monthly uniques and 30 million page views.
Redskins owner Buys Dick Clark Productions (LAT)
Daniel Snyder is buying Dick Clark Productions Inc. in a deal valued at $175 million and planning to digitize the company's extensive library of live-music performances. Snyder's private-equity firm, RedZone Capital, acquired a 60 percent stake in the Burbank-based company. Six Flags Inc., of which RedZone is the largest shareholder, took the rest.
