CBS Evening News With Couric to Be Simulucast on Web (TVNewser)
The network's nightly newscast will be simulcast live on the Internet beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5. "This is a groundbreaking development in making the program available to the largest possible audience," said CBS News president Sean McManus. There's one catch: "To access the simulcast, viewers will be asked to register so that they view it when the television broadcast is aired in their time zone," CBS says. Readers subscribe to newspapers for text, not for artwork. To the extent that newspapers substitute overly-generous graphics for news and opinion they shortchange readers and alienate them.
