Current TV Relaunches Site (AP)
Current TV has this week relaunched its Web site to add many of the features found on YouTube. The redesign includes a Multimedia Wiki where viewers can respond to pods with comments, videos, and animation. Some pods also invite others to participate, including offers to add multiple perspectives to news pieces as "citizen journalists."
Mags Trying to Attract Friends on Social Networking Sites (MIN)
Steve Smith: How do print publishers actually become part of a conversation or get into the social flow of these networks? I don't think anyone knows yet, but it certainly involves more than traditional publishing. In Facebook, for instance, some of the most trafficked and popular media-related groups are not branded profiles but assemblages of former interns and employees of magazines and publishers.
Drew Carey Site to Show Short Documentary Videos (Hollywood Reporter)
Drew Carey and the nonprofit think tank Reason Foundation launched a site that will present short documentary videos about current issues. Reason.tv will feature journalistic videos, hosted by Carey, focusing on such subjects as eminent domain, drug laws, and immigration. The Web site also will have community features that will share videos and communicate with the Cleveland-born comedian.
Why Should We Care About the Veracity of Deborah Solomon's Q&As? (SF Chron)
Jon Carroll: It seems impossible to me that anyone at the Times, or anyone in journalism anywhere in the country, thought of Solomon's interviews as anything more than an amusing fantasy. They read like Nick and Nora Charles batting the ball back and forth in witty repartee. Of course she rearranged stuff, rewrote stuff, telescoped stuff. Real interviews don't go like that. What she was writing were screenplays.
Ann Coulter's Web Site Hacked (DListed)
A message from Ann Coulter appeared on her official Web site Monday. Unfortunately, it wasn't real. The message from Ann read: "It was quite interesting to see how people would react when I would use twisted logic and poorly masked bigotry. But 11 years is a long time to be living a fake life, and I can no longer tolerate this falsity." April Fools' Day has come early.
