Time Inc. Picks Its Web Winners (WSJ)
Time Inc. Chief Executive Ann Moore is casting aside Time Inc.'s decades-old tradition of giving its major magazines autonomy in running their operations. She says Time magazine remains a "top priority" for Internet investment. But several senior Time Inc. executives say Time, along with titles including InStyle and Real Simple, will rank as "second-tier" for that purpose. FBNY: Moore says overseeing Time Inc.'s magazines is "like having 149 children that need to go to college at the same time."
NYC Freelance Photog Killed in Mexico (LAT)
A New York-based photographer was fatally shot Friday while trying to conduct interviews during a shootout between leftist protesters and a group of assailants in Oaxaca city, where a five-month teachers strike has triggered at least eight killings. Bradley Will had been working for about six weeks, collecting photographs and video footage of the Oaxaca conflict for an Internet-based news agency. AP Video via Yahoo.

David Pauly: For about $20 billion, Berkshire could buy the New York Times Co., which also owns the Boston Globe; Dow Jones & Co., publisher of the Wall Street Journal; Tribune Co., which owns papers in Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore and suburban New York; and the rest of Washington Post.
