Fox Cable Acquires Sports Channel Turner South (Reuters)
News Corp. division Fox Cable Networks is acquiring regional cable channel Turner South from Time Warner division Turner Broadcasting. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, though sources pin Turner South's price tag at roughly $375 million.
Judy Woodruff Returns to PBS (AP via USAT)
Veteran broadcast journalist Judy Woodruff will return to her one-time home, PBS, for a project examining young people's views on religion, politics and other issues, including America's role in the world.
Intermix Media Inc. founder Brad Greenspan sued the Web-site operator, claiming its $580 million sale to News Corp. didn't reflect the growth prospects of its main asset, MySpace.com, and accusing the company's directors of breaching their fiduciary duties by failing to seek a higher price.

Doug Vogt, injured with anchorman Bob Woodruff in an Iraqi roadside bombing on Jan. 29, has checked out of Bethesda Medical Center. The more seriously hurt Woodruff, recovering from head wounds and other injuries, is still being slowly brought out of sedation.

The chain unveiled a new TV ad that allows viewers to crack a hidden message if they play the spot back slowly on a digital video recorder or VCR. The gimmick is aimed at countering the rise of technology that enables television viewers to skip past commercials faster than ever before.
Advertisers' Gold Gone From TV Events? (NYP)
While the networks tout the big sports and award shows as "TiVo-proof" and "appointment TV," declining ratings tell a different story. These shows are attracting sizable audiences, but increasingly those viewers are spread across broadcast TV, cable, the Internet and even iPods. WSJ: Advertisers are paying about $1.68 million for a 30-second spot during the Academy Awards.

For a while, celebrity magazines grew as a response to the fully airbrushed portraits in glossier establishments such as Vogue and Vanity Fair. But demand may at last be sated. On current trends, the number of magazines could soon exceed the number of celebrities they feature.
