Live with Regis & Kelly has already lined up a star-studded cast of guest hosts beginning with CNN's Anderson Cooper to fill in for Regis Philbin, who announced Monday he will be leaving the show temporarily to undergo heart bypass surgery. Cooper will host the show alongside Kelly Ripa Tuesday and Wednesday, then give way to MTV's Damien Fahey on Thursday and Friday.

Gore Brings DIY TV 'Revolution' to Britain (Guardian)
Former vice president turned Oscar-winning environmental campaigner Al Gore yesterday unveiled the British version of his Current TV network, claiming it was the first example of "television for the Internet generation." He said the new service, which relies on viewer-created content for more than a third of its schedule, would prove as pivotal as the invention of the printing press.

2006's Best- and Worst-Selling Mag Covers (MIN)
Three years ago, except for among his Illinois state senate constituents, Barack Obama would have generated a giant "Who's he?" But his face graced the best-selling 2006 newsstand covers for both Time and Newsweek — with rival Hillary Clinton.

Eisner Seeks to Reprise Role of Content Guy on the Web (LAT)
Michael Eisner is making entertainment again. The former Walt Disney Co. chief executive said his Tornante Co. will shoot 80 episodes of a new series called Prom Queen, each lasting just 90 seconds. The series will start showing online April 2 at Vuguru.com, YouTube and Veoh.com, a video sharing service in which Eisner is an investor.

BBC Correspondent Kidnapped in Gaza (Reuters via Yahoo)
A BBC correspondent was kidnapped in the Gaza Strip on Monday by unknown assailants, Palestinian security officials said. Police identified the journalist as Alan Johnston, who has been the BBC's correspondent in Gaza for three years. Officials said his rental car was found abandoned in Gaza City and that a search was under way for the British national.

Fallen Idol: Former Contestant in Harassment Suit (TMZ)
Former American Idol finalist Mario Vasquez is facing accusations that he tried to masturbate in front of a male employee in a bathroom on the set of the hit show in February 2005. Shortly thereafter, Vasquez mysteriously dropped out of Idol, citing personal reasons. According to the suit, Vazquez allegedly "sexually harassed" Magdaleno Olmos, assistant accountant for Fremantle Media.

New York Mag Moving Downtown (NYP)
New York magazine is leaving its buttoned-down Madison Avenue location for more spacious digs in trendier SoHo. Sources at the weekly say a deal is expected to be inked by today to move its headquarters from 444 Madison Ave to One Hudson Square, otherwise known as 75 Varick St. The move is expected to take place in late August. There was no word on the details of the lease.

Ombudsblogger: Weighing in on the Page Six/Radar Spat (Eat the Press)
Rachel Sklar: By all means, attack each other. Pull each other to bits — over stuff that matters. Someone goofs, or is careless? Great, call them out. It'll make everyone more careful. Someone has a conflict of interest they don't disclose? Well then, feel free to provide the whole picture. That stuff is important. But why are low blows necessary? If you've got a solid leg to stand on, they shouldn't be. FishbowlNY: Radar fires back at Page Six.

Vatican Plans New TV Network (Reuters)
Days after Pope Benedict XVI criticized the media for its "destructive" influence, the Vatican on Monday announced plans to launch its first television network by the end of the year. H2O will broadcast news and original entertainment programming worldwide in seven languages, according to a statement. Additional details were sketchy.

Shoket Not Planning Seventeen Overhaul (WWD)
"The magazine is doing well and it's not my goal to change it," editor Ann Shoket said. Her goal is, however, to have Seventeen celebrate the fun of being a teenager. "Imagine if you had four Red Bulls and a bag of Oreos and stayed up all night. That's the type of fun, caffeinated hyper energy that I want the magazine to have."

Assigning Ratings to Commercials Turns Out to Be a Tricky Task (NYT)
Television networks and advertising agencies were arguing for months over how to count the number of people who actually watch commercials. And they seemed to have come up with a compromise last fall — a system of averaging commercial viewing over an entire program. Their solution now looks short-lived.

Reporters Should Demand More of Their Anonymous Sources (CSM)
Dante Chinni: Journalists increasingly grant confidentiality and anonymity the way many Americans run up credit card charges — too easily. As a result, the notion of anonymous sourcing has spread from reluctant whistle-blowers and highly sensitive sources to virtually anyone. Even Capitol Hill press secretaries are now routinely anonymous.

Media Guy's Quarterly Pop Quiz: Tom Cruise, Village Voice Editors, and MTV's New Sites (AdAge)
Simon Dumenco: ABC has greenlighted a sitcom based on the caveman characters from those ubiquitous Geico commercials? What's next? A. Aunt Jemima to join next cast of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club. B. Frolicsome animated versions of the KFC/Taco Bell New York City rats to star in adorable new Saturday-morning kids' cartoon. C. Pillsbury Doughboy on Top Chef.

With New Quiz Shows, 'Boob Tube' Earns Its Name (WaPo)
Paul Farhi: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? suggests how far down the de-evolutionary scale quiz shows have tumbled. Throughout TV history, quiz shows measured how smart their contestants were, rewarding them for their gray matter and their lightning reflexes. This celebrates the opposite, trafficking in the dimness of its adult contestants and glorying in their embarrassment.

Woman Threatens Suit Over Reality Show (AP via USAT)
A woman who says police mistakenly raided her apartment during filming of the now-canceled CBS reality show Armed & Famous has warned Muncie, Ind., officials that she intends to file a suit.
