CBS Cancels Wednesday 60 Minutes (NYT)
Dan Rather, the newsmagazine's lead correspondent, will contribute stories to the Sunday edition of 60 Minutes, said CBS Chairman Les Moonves. NYT: CBS promotes fall lineup and takes shots at rivals. WaPo: "Turn of the skew" at CBS, writes Lisa de Moraes. LAT: Network jettisons a strategy that embraced viewers of all ages. Muslims Skeptical of Newsweek Retraction (LAT)
The now-retracted report that American interrogators flushed a Quran down a toilet added another layer of bitterness among many Arabs who see the United States as anti-Muslim.
