Good Morning America Names New Executive Producers (TVNewser)
Here's the long-awaited official announcement: "Jim Murphy, the longtime news producer and former executive producer of the CBS Evening News, has been named senior executive producer of Good Morning America effective immediately. In addition, GMA senior broadcast producer, Tom Cibrowski, will become executive producer at the beginning of September."
Omnimedia Stock Surges on Mag Ads News (NYP)
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia took a giant step toward winning back the confidence of investors when it reported a surge in advertising dollars at its flagship magazine. The news sent the company's shares soaring 10.3 percent yesterday, to close at $16.99.

Responding to coverage of his interview last week in which he got a congressman to say that cocaine was "fun," the Colbert Report host slammed the two shows using their own clips to discredit their criticism of him.
In an attempt to stem the flow of viewers away from television, MTV is expected to announce a new Web station called Flux. The channel will feature video clips sent in by the audience, let them vote on what programs they will see next and allow them to chat with each other live on national television.

Google to Disclose Dishonest Ad Clicks (NYT)
The search engine company said yesterday that it would disclose to advertisers the number of clicks on ads that it deems are invalid in a bid to assuage concerns over "click fraud." A Google business product manager said advertisers could now see how many clicks on ads are excluded from their bills.
The paper plans to sell ads on the covers of its Business, Sunday Real Estate, Sports, and Food sections, Globe president and general manager Mary Jacobus said yesterday The front page of the Globe "is not under consideration," Jacobus said, nor is the cover of the City & Region section.
McGowan Named Publisher of T+L (Mediaweek)
American Express Publishing named Julie McGowan senior VP, publisher of Travel + Leisure. McGowan, who was previously senior VP, publisher at Food & Wine, replaces Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, who exits after 17 years to focus on her "personal endeavors and professional next steps."

The company may sue rival Web sites for alleged patent violations. The patent Friendster was granted last month covers "a method and apparatus for calculating, displaying and acting upon relationships in a social network" in short, acting as a hub to connect Web users with common acquaintances.
