Dwell Editor Resigns At Odds With 'Fundamental Change In Magazine's Mission' (FishbowlNY)
Dwell magazine editor Allison Arieff has resigned after what she called "a fundamental change in the magazine's mission and philosophy." Arieff, who had been at Dwell since 2000, alerted friends and colleagues at the award-winning shelter title in an e-mail late yesterday. FBNY: Dwell president Michela O'Connor Abrams announces "staff reorganization." UnBeige: In 2002, Karrie Jacobs, the founding editor of Dwell, also left the magazine, at odds with its philosophy.
U.S. Won't Negotiate With Fox News Kidnappers (Guardian)
The U.S. government has responded to yesterday's demands from the militant group holding Fox News reporter Steve Centanni and his cameraman Olaf Wiig hostage in Gaza by insisting it does "not make concessions to terrorists."
New York Times Names First Perfume Critic (AP via MSNBC)

Even before editor Jimmy Jellinek's recent shuffling of the editorial decks at Maxim, there were rumblings of the magazine's proposed shift to cater to its increasingly "upscale" audience one the magazine believes it already has. A source now says that the transformation, however subtle, will be completed by the October issue.

Jann Wenner's decision to replace former Men's Journal editor Michael Caruso last fall doesn't seem to be paying off.
