American Crossroads To Spend $10 Million to Get Out the Vote

american crossroads.bmp American Crossroads, a nonprofit 527 political organization, has announced plans to spend more than $10 million on a get-out-the-vote plan it calls “MOVERS,” or “Mobilizing Our Voters to End Reckless Spending.” The effort will target voters in eight states: Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Washington. The campaign will include early voting notifications sent by mail, phone calls to prospective voters, and a 72-hour mail and phone call blitz prior to Election Day.

“The eight states we chose for our get-out-the-vote efforts are all states that have competitive Senate races at the top of the ballot as well as opportunities to leverage those gains down the ballot in House and local races,” Jonathan Collegio, director of communications for American Crossroads told PRNewser.

Collegio went on to define the “reckless spending” the organization is opposed to as “entitlements” such as the healthcare bill and the “Cash for Clunkers” program.

“In the last two years, Congress and the Obama administration has started multi-trillion dollar entitlements on top of trillion dollar deficits. We feel it’s time to get Congress on a fiscally responsible path,” he added.

Outreach will focus on Republican voters with high, medium, and low voting propensity, as well as high-propensity independent voters. Voting propensity is determined by public voting records. Collegio noted that American Crossroads is not directly tied with any candidate or campaign.

“We support candidates who support fiscally responsible policies unlike anything that has come out of the Obama-Pelosi-Reed administration in the last two years,” he said.

American Crossroads was launched in March 2010. This $10 million campaign spend accounts for about 20 percent of the organization’s $52 million fundraising goal.
