Business Wire is now offering a Mobile Alerts option to clients that will make text message alerts available to interested audiences. BW clients can embed a mobile landing page that will be available to subscribers and provide access to press releases pushed out by the newswire service.

Foursquare looks like it’s heading toward a system of charging its 500,000 merchant members for check-ins. The company just received $50 million in funding. [via New York Post]

MyEdCals has 20,000 story opportunities listed now for the 2012 calendar year. It will eventually offer more than 500,000 listings for the year. Click here for more info.

Speaking of funding, Twitter says it has gotten a chunk of it from Digital Sky Technologies, which also has a stake in Groupon, Facebook, and Zynga. [via Mashable]
