Climb the New York Times Building to Get Times Coverage

300_binladen_climber.jpg

In the ultimate example of taking PR in to your own hands, “Bin Laden’s Plan” author David Malone was busted yesterday scaling The New York Times building in an effort to promote his book.

How did he do? The City Room story on the stunt included his name, biographical information, the name of the book with a link to his site. The climb earned Malone a little coverage on Fox News as well, though they took the opportunity to throw down an Obama=Osama chyron “error”.

The banner Malone hung on the fifth floor is a blow-up of the book jacket. The photograph above taken from the inside of the building is courtesy of John Niedermeyer, an Editorial Designer at the Times.
