February is also American Heart Month and Discovery Familia is spreading the word about heart health with a campaign — “Escucha tu Corazón” (“Listen to Your Heart”) — that includes a series of PSAs, programming, and event participation targeting the Hispanic community.
The clip above is one of three PSAs starring journalist and Discovery Familia ambassador Jeannette Torres-Álvarez that will air on television and is available on the campaign’s website. Torres-Álvarez will also be walking the catwalk tomorrow for The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection 2012 Fashion Show, taking place during New York Fashion Week. Programming dedicated to hearth health, targeting all Hispanics, will also air throughout the remainder of the month.
“Heart disease is the primary cause of death among Latinas in the United States,” said Torres-Álvarez in a press release statement. “That is why we need to become informed, get our medical check-ups, be willing to change our lifestyles and always listen to our hearts.”
