iVillage Names Syfy Exec. Mirian Arias VP of Communications

Mirian Arias has made a move within the NBC Universal family, jumping Syfy, formerly Sci Fi Channel to iVillage as vice president of communications.

At iVillage, she will lead external and internal communications, overseeing press outreach, media-relations strategy, and employee communications and reporting to executive VP Jodi Kahn and Hilary Smith, senior VP of communications for NBC Universal Women & Lifestyle Entertainment Networks.

Lauren A. Meller joined iVillage as VP of communications in October 2009 from Yahoo! An iVillage spokesperson told PRNewser today that she “left to pursue other interests.”

iVillage previously worked with agency Kaplow Communications on a project basis. They now work with Zeno Group.

Here’s one area where iVillage can use an update: their press release page. The last release posted is from August 2008, and returns an error page when one clicks on the link. “That is a project we need to work on” said the iVillage spokesperson PRNewser spoke with.
